Sports competitions among veterans of the "Victory of the Invincibles" were held in Lutsk

The Strongman Federation of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the Lutsk City Council, held an All-Ukrainian sports event for war veterans “Victory of the Unconquered”.

The main goal of the competition, which took place in Lutsk, is to further strengthen the patriotic spirit in society by involving military personnel, war veterans and persons discharged from military service, service in law enforcement agencies who suffered injuries, wounds or illnesses during or as a result of performing their duties in a combat zone, in sports.

The sports disciplines in which 211 participants from 20 regions of Ukraine competed were individual exercises: bench press (60 and 100 kg among men, 30 kg among women), rowing on the “Concept-2” simulator for 100 seconds, air bike and kettlebell snatch weighing 16 and 24 kg. The participants of the inclusive competitions were war veterans, military personnel, and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

As part of the competitions, the presentation and grand opening of the StrongWorkout workout area took place, which is a joint initiative and implementation of the NGO "Federation of Strongmen of Ukraine", the Bukovel tourist complex and the Lutsk City Council. StrongWorkout is an almost full-fledged open-air gym, where townspeople and veterans can train as effectively as possible, because the workout complex is adaptive.

The opening ceremony was attended by Lutsk Mayor Igor Polishchuk, Director of the State Institution "Agency of Mass Sports" Andriy Rebryna, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Kyrylova, Chairman of the Volyn Regional Council Hryhoriy Nedopad, Director of MHP-Buffalo Ruslan Pashyan, Honorary President of the Strongman Federation of Ukraine Vasyl Virastyuk, President of the Strongman Federation of Ukraine Serhiy Konyushok.

Igor Polishchuk, Mayor of Lutsk: "First of all, I want to congratulate everyone on Constitution Day. I want to thank the organizers and express my gratitude to the veterans who came to us in Lutsk from different parts of Ukraine. Thank you for the fact that these competitions are held in our city. This is a great motivation for both veterans who are not yet involved in sports, and for civilians who, due to laziness and weakness, or because they feel sorry for themselves, do not go in for sports. Our heroes are an example of how to love life, and how, after the difficult life trials they have gone through, to move actively, move forward, achieve new heights, including in sports. I want to congratulate all the participants, wish good competitions, without injuries, victory in sports and life, and a just, victorious and lasting peace to our country! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!"

Andriy Rebryna, Director of the state institution "Agency of Mass Sports": "Indeed, I am very grateful to everyone who is joining adaptive sports today. I would like to thank separately the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for making amendments to the Law of Ukraine on Physical Culture and Sports in the direction of adaptive sports. This is a new direction that is developing in Ukraine. I want to thank the Strongman Federation of Ukraine, directly Serhiy Konyushka, Vasyl Virastyuk, for the fact that for the first time in Ukraine this federation began to develop adaptive sports, veterans' sports. For this, many thanks. Let's applaud them! Every sport should take an example from the FSU, because, in my opinion, every sport should have an adaptive sports direction. I am convinced that today every community in Ukraine should create conditions for free physical education and sports, adaptive sports for those veterans who return from the combat zone, and their families. I would like to separately thank the Lutsk city authorities, the Volyn regional council and the Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine for directly paying great attention to veterans' sports".
